Four passengers not onboard MH370 replaced by standby passengers

The mystery behind the four passengers who checked in but did not board the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH 370 was finally “cleared” after it was revealed that four standby passengers had taken their seats.
Following a barrage of questions on the matter, MAS group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said of the 227 passengers, four who had bought tickets did not turn up to catch the flight to Beijing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Their places were taken by four people, who were standby passengers, he explained.
He, however did not reveal more about the four passengers.
It was earlier reported that five people did not board the plane after checking in but yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters that every person who had booked a ticket for the flight had boarded the plane.
He maintained that that is what the police found in their investigations.
"Let me make it simple, everyone who was supposed to be onboard, was on the flight," Khalid was quoted as saying yesterday.
Khalid's statement caused confusion as the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) had earlier claimed that four passengers did not get on the plane.
DCA director-general Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman told reporters that the five had failed to board and their bags were all removed from the plane, as per the SOP, before take-off.
He said only one woman did not get onboard as she had call MAS to cancel her booking.
Flight MH370 flew from KLIA with 227 passengers of 14 nationalities and an all-Malaysian crew of 12 onboard. It never reached its destination, Beijing.
The fate of the plane and its passengers remains unknown. – March 12, 2014.

777 mystery sharpens hunt for black-box alternatives

By Tim Hepher
PARIS (Reuters) - The search for the missing Malaysian jet could speed development of new ways of locating wreckage, but such technology is unlikely to replace the traditional "black box" any time soon, France's top crash investigator said on Wednesday.
Mystery over the Boeing 777's whereabouts deepened on Wednesday when Malaysia said it was searching an area hundreds of miles from its last known position.
As well as scouring the area with ships, planes and satellites, investigators are trying to pick up signals from beacons on the jet's data and cockpit voice recorders.
Proposals for helping with future searches include getting the jet to give its location automatically before an accident happens and a new, more accessible frequency for transmitting homing signals - expanding archaic transmissions that may be inaudible even to modern military search crews.
A French probe into the crash of an Air France jet in the Atlantic in 2009, which triggered a two-year $50 million search to find its crucial black boxes, led to a series of recommendations from France's BEA crash investigation agency.
But the recommendations that could potentially make it easier to track down such aircraft such as the Malaysian jet are bogged down in talks between regulators and the aviation industry, with no timetable for putting them into effect.
"It is a subject still under discussion," BEA director Remy Jouty said in an interview, adding last week's disappearance of Flight 370 could focus further attention on the discussions.
Although one proposal, that the minimum battery life on locator beacons attached to the vital recording devices should be tripled to 90 days, has been backed by global regulators, it will not become mandatory until towards the end of the decade.
Under current rules, the beacons must be capable of sending out a tracking ping for 30 days before the signals die out.
In 2012, the BEA's advice was adopted by the U.N.'s International Civil Aviation Organization, which urged members to make them mandatory from 2018. In the European Union, however, the changes will take effect in 2019, Jouty said.
The Atlantic jet disaster marked a turning point in the way such searches are handled and led to what was - by the standards of complex aviation regulations that must be agreed globally and then translated into national laws - rapid action on batteries.
Even before the mandatory regulations come into effect, the longer-life batteries are already available and experts say from next year, only the newer 90-day versions will be produced.
"To my knowledge there is no problem of availability of the batteries," Jouty said.
But so far only a handful of airlines, including Air France , have voluntarily switched to the longer batteries.
AUTOMATIC TRACKING DATA
The Air France 447 incident and the BEA's lengthy final report also led to a deeper rethink of how aircraft can be redesigned to help investigators track the wreckage.
Aviation experts say such changes can take years to negotiate in part because the changes require new technology, but also because of competing interests over costs.
"When it comes to new regulations, it is common practice to study their cost-effectiveness, and U.S. and European law requires this. Of course, operators and manufacturers give their opinions but the authorities cannot ignore these matters," Jouty said.
He said technical groups were looking at three suggestions, not all of which would necessarily be required by law.
Under one of these, a jetliner would automatically beam back
regular updates on its location throughout the flight.
Under the second proposal, the jet would automatically send out useful tracking data when it senses it is about to crash.
A third idea calls for the black box to be ejected from the aircraft just before impact, avoiding the risk of destruction.
To persuade airlines to adopt the extra security measures, they may be offered a choice, such as adding the new lower frequency or providing for automatic location data, Jouty said.
However, proposals by some avionics firms to replace black boxes - which are in fact orange - with satellite data to monitor all systems in real time has won little support.
The Rio-Paris Air France crash and now the Malaysian missing jet mystery have rekindled calls for non-stop satellite data and even live voice transmissions or a "skycam" in the cockpit.
But Jouty said the technology was not yet "mature" - a view echoed by Europe's aviation safety regulator and many airlines.
"Sending continuous data for all flights would create a huge amount of data and might get very difficult to monitor and analyse," said Tony Tyler, director general of the International Air Transport Association, adding the industry remained safe.
Some pilots also oppose the idea of routine cockpit conversations being overheard from far away, but groups such as the relatives of the Air France crash victims have called for maximum investment in new safety measures to prevent future disasters.

pAKAR DLM KAPAL

THE Malaysian military says it has radar evidence showing the missing Boeing 777 jetliner changed course and made it to the Malacca Strait, hundreds of kilometres away from the last location reported by civilian authorities.
The development injects new mystery into the investigation of the flight’s disappearance.
Local newspaper Berita Harian quoted Malaysian air force chief Gen. Rodzali Daud as saying radar at a military base had detected the airliner near Pulau Perak, at the northern approach to the strait.
A high-ranking military official involved in the investigation confirmed the report on Tuesday and also said the aircraft was believed to be flying low.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.
Radio and radar contact with Flight MH370 was lost off the east coast Malaysian town of Kota Bharu.
“It changed course after Kota Bharu and took a lower altitude. It made it into the Malacca Strait,” a military official told Reuters.

MEN WITH STOLEN PASSPORTS IDENTIFIED
Interpol has released an image of two Iranians who were travelling with stolen passports on a missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner.
Officials said the two Iranian men carrying stolen passports boarded the plane at the same time. Interpol secretary-general Ronald K. Noble said on Tuesday that the two men travelled to Malaysia on their Iranian passports, then apparently switched to the stolen Austrian and Italian documents.
Mr Noble said the recent information about the men made terrorism a less likely cause of the plane’s disappearance, but that did not allay concerns about the ease of travel involving stolen passports.
He identified the men as Pouri Nourmohammadi, 19, and Delavar Seyedmohammaderza, 29. The 19-year-old is believed to have planned to seek asylum in Germany.
Terror ‘unlikely’ as impostors ID’d

The announcement is likely to dampen, at least for now, speculation that the disappearance of the Boeing 777 was linked to terrorism. Both bought their tickets in Thailand and entered Malaysia together.
No debris from the plane has been found. On Tuesday, baffled authorities expanded their search to the opposite side of Malaysia from where it disappeared more than three days ago with 239 people on board.
The airline says the pilots did not send any distress signals, suggesting a sudden and possibly catastrophic incident. Speculation has ranged widely about possible causes, including pilot error, plane malfunction, hijacking and terrorism.
CO-PILOT SMOKED, TOOK PHOTOS
A co-pilot at the controls of the missing plane once invited a Melbourne tourist and her friend into the cockpit where he smoked, took photos and entertained the pair during a previous international flight.
In a worrying lapse of security, it’s been revealed pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid and his colleague broke Malaysia Airline rules when they invited passengers Jonti Roos and Jaan Maree to join them in the cabin for the one-hour flight from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur in 2011.
Ms Roos, who is travelling around Australia, told A Current Affair she and Ms Maree posed for pictures with the pilots, who smoked cigarettes during the midair rendezvous.
“Throughout the entire flight they were talking to us and they were actually smoking throughout the flight which I don’t think they’re allowed to do,” Ms Roos said.

MUM IDENTIFIES MAN AS ASYLUM SEEKER
News that two of the passengers were travelling with stolen passports immediately fuelled speculation of foul play. However, Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar told a news conference on Tuesday that investigators had determined one was a 19-year-old Iranian, Pouria Nourmohammadi Mehrdad, who was planning to enter Germany to seek asylum.
“We believe he is not likely to be a member of any terrorist group,” Mr Khalid said.
He said the young man’s mother was waiting for him in Frankfurt and had been in contact with police. He said she contacted Malaysian authorities to inform them of her concern when her son didn’t get in touch with her.
He also said there was no truth to a statement by at least one other government official that five passengers had checked in for the flight but never boarded the aeroplane.
The plane took off from Kuala Lumpur, on the western coast of Malaysia, early Saturday en route to Beijing. It flew across Malaysia into the Gulf of Thailand at 35,000 feet (11,000 metres) and then disappeared from radar screens.
Authorities have said the plane may have attempted to turn back toward Kuala Lumpur.

STILL NO SIGN OF MISSING PLANE
The hunt began on Saturday near the plane’s last known location. But with no debris found there, the search has been systematically expanded to include areas the plane could have reached with the fuel it had on board. That is a vast area in which to locate something as small as a piece of an aircraft.
Malaysia Airlines said search and rescue teams have expanded the scope beyond the flight path to the Straits of Malacca between Malaysia’s western coast and Indonesia’s Sumatra island — the opposite side of Malaysia from its last known location.
An earlier statement said the western coast of Malaysia was “now the focus”, but the airline subsequently said that phrase was an oversight.
“The search is on both sides,” Civil aviation chief Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said.
The search currently includes nine aircraft and 24 ships from nine countries that have been scouring the Gulf of Thailand on the eastern side of Malaysia. Land areas also are being searched.
callenges desktop
China, where two-thirds of the passengers are from, urged Malaysian authorities on Tuesday to “speed up the efforts” to find the plane. It has sent four ships, with another four on the way.
A shopping mall in Beijing suspended advertising on its large outdoor LED screen to display a search timer — an image of an aeroplane along with a digital clock marking the time since contact with the flight was lost.
Assuming the plane crashed into the ocean or disintegrated in midair, there will likely still be debris floating in the ocean, but it may be widely spread out, and much may have already sunk. In past disasters, it has taken days or longer to find wreckage.
what we know desktop
The United States has sent two navy ships, at least one of which is equipped with helicopters, and a Navy P-3C Orion plane with sensors that can detect small debris in the water. It said in a statement that the Malaysian government has done ``tremendous job’’ organising the land and sea search effort.
Vietnamese planes and ships are also taking part.
Lt. Gen. Vo Van Tuan, deputy chief of staff of the Vietnamese People’s Army, said authorities on land had also been ordered to search for the plane, which could have crashed into mountains or uninhabited jungle. He said military units near the border with Laos and Cambodia had been instructed to search their regions also.
“So far we have found no signs ... so we must widen our search,” he said.

Silap didik anak

Silap didik anak

Memang layak kita gelar “Celcom Haram Jadah”

...start..........
Celcom Ingat Boleh Buat Ikut Suka Hati Mak Bapak Dia Orang Ke Kat Negara Ni?

Penulis sudah dua kali menerima sistem pesanan ringkas (SMS) berikut;

Penulis tak pernah mintak sebarang Pelan Mobile Internet Lite percuma.

Telefon bimbit penulis pun budak yang jual kat Low Yat tu dulu cakap 2G…maknanya tak boleh support fungsi internet la kot.

Jadi, pertama sekali, Pelan Mobile Internet Lite percuma tu tak guna, penulis tak pakai.

Keduanya, penulis kena hantar sms (walapun percuma) untuk lebih kurang memberitahu…”eh eh..gua tak mau la…ish gua tak mau la”.

Kepala hotak mangkuk ayun kat Celcom tu semua.

Kalau tak hantar maka setiap bulan kena bayar RM28. Itu bukan paksaan ke?

Aku tak mintak in the first place, lepas tu aku kena hantar sms merayu janganlah suruh aku guna Pelan Mobile Internet Lite, aku tak nak bayar RM28 tu.

Inikah etika perniagaan Celcom. Memalukan.
